Costa Blanca
& Costa Calida
The Costa Blanca, located on Spain’s south east coast, is one of Spain’s most popular areas for buying a first home overseas. Being newer than most of Spain’s established resorts has meant that prices are very competitive as the region has still a lot of growth to be had in comparison to other well known Costas.
The region has many large Spanish fishing towns filled with restaurants and bars such as Torrevieja, Guardamar and Elche and many residential areas such as Playa Flamenca, Cabo Roig, Campoamor and Quesada have supermarkets, doctors, dentists, banks and facilities such as weekly markets to buy fresh food and local souvenirs. The region boasts many blue flag beaches and there are many tapas bars with outdoor seating located on or near the promenades. Torrevieja has facilities such as an aqua park, go karts and bowling alleys to keep the kids happy and the region’s many golf courses, such as Villamartin, Campoamor and La Marquesa are never far away.
The Costa Calida has become increasingly popular in recent years due to the excellent budget flight links from local UK airports to Murcia Airport, located beside the coastal town of San Javier and close to all the region’s popular towns. The Mar Menor coastline offers calm, sheltered waters, warm all year round, excellent for sailing, snorkelling, canoeing and water-skiing. Spanish fishing towns and villages with weekly markets, tapas bars, restaurants and supermarkets are dotted up and down this picturesque coastline. The world famous golf resort of La Manga can also be found here, where the rich and famous can often be found.
Travelling inland you will find the traditional city of Murcia, where a new International Airport is currently under construction. With universities, shopping, schools, restaurants and bars and a distinctly Spanish feel, this old picturesque city offers a slice of the real Spain away from the hustle bustle of the coast.
